Helping teens with anxiety, depression, and stress. In-person and online sessions available.

Worried About Your Teen’s Well-Being?

Many teens struggle silently with anxiety and depression. You may notice changes in their mood, withdrawal from activities they once enjoyed, or difficulties in relationships.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Therapy can provide a safe space for your teen to express their feelings and learn coping strategies. It's an opportunity to understand their emotions better and develop healthier responses to life's pressures.

How Therapy Can Help Your Teen Thrive

Therapy can help your teen experience a more fulfilling life, with improved relationships and self-esteem.

We’ll work together to help your teen:

  • Identify their emotions and understand their impact.

  • Improve communication skills to express needs and feelings.

  • Reconnect with friends and family, enhancing support networks.

  • Prioritize wellness in daily routines.

  • Build resilience to navigate challenges more effectively.

My approach to therapy combines empathy with evidence-based techniques, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reshape negative thought patterns

  • Mindfulness practices to ground them in the present moment

FAQs

  • I work with teens on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, ADHD, divorce, and life changes.

  • Therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space where teens can express themselves and learn new coping strategies. Additionally, I involve the family when appropriate, helping to facilitate conversation and change when it would be beneficial. Though the teen is my primary client, I also expect to at least occasionally meet with parents to learn their perspectives and assess progress.

  • I believe the assessment of need for therapy is highly personal and dependent on your relationship with your child. Possible signs that might make therapy worthy of consideration include changes in mood or personality, withdrawal from activities or relationships, declining academic performance, or increased conflict at home. If you're concerned, it's worth considering scheduling a consultation to see if therapy could be helpful.

  • The duration of therapy varies based on individual needs and goals. Some may see improvements in a small amount of sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term support. My aim, however, is to focus on finding practical skills and changes that will facilitate lasting change, and to work with the whole family to instill new habits that will maintain positive changes.

  • In your initial session, I'll gather information about your anxiety symptoms, triggers, coping strategies, and goals for therapy. This will help me understand your unique needs and develop a personalized treatment plan. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and get a sense of my therapeutic approach. The first session is a chance for us to start building a trusting, collaborative relationship.

  • Please check my FAQ page for up-to-date fee information. I do not currently accept insurance, but I can provide you with a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Some clients also choose to use their HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost of therapy. If finances are a concern, I have a limited number of sliding scale slots available and a lower rate may be possible.
